LoL < DotA, prove me wrong

I got back into League of Legends today. Although, "got back into" may be stretching the truth a little, because it's not like I was ever big on it in the first place. I played DotA a lot though, I got into it around 2004 and only stopped playing last year. There's a limit to how many first blood leavers a man can handle - turns out my limit was pretty damn high, but I got there in the end.

Tangentially DotA-related. Hit level 6? Someone's going to die.

I tried LoL during the beta, but I didn't like the art style, the levelling mechanics, the cash shop or the samey feel of the heroes so I stopped. I still don't like any of those things but DotA 2 still isn't out and I've been craving an AoS style of game (or whatever they're calling it these days) so I caved and reinstalled it. Since then I've been smashing some creeps' faces with Nasus, throwing people around with Malphite, and generally taking it easy. I'm only level 16 so far but it shouldn't take me too long to get further. If there's one thing I really miss from DotA it's being able to -random and get a random hero from the entire game. There's a random option in the champion select screen in LoL, but it only picks out of the meagre ~10 champs that I've got unlocked, so it's not quite the same.

There's been no release date mentioned for DotA 2 yet right? I can't wait - it and Diablo 3 are the only games I'm really looking forward to this year.

>implying either game will come out this year

I'm sorry Elsie I'll watch you as soon as I can so please stop looking at me like that

I was going to write about what anime I'm watching this season, but I still haven't watched even the first episode for half the shows I'm interested in. I finally made some decent headway last night, but I might hold off on blogging about them until I've seen a good few episodes of each so I have a bit more of a basis to go off. Suffice it to say, though, that I've seen both Kaiji episodes within an hour or two of subs coming out and I foresee this trend continuing.  ざわ...

Other shows that I've watched, or will be watching at least the first episode of, include Ano Hana, Hanasaku Iroha, Tiger & Bunny, TWGOK2, Maria Holic 2, Nichijou and Steins;Gate. C, Denpa Onna and Lotte no Omocha I'll only pick up if they get a lot of good feedback, otherwise I'll probably use the time to get into another VN instead.

On personal matters, I had a scarily productive day today. I went to lectures in the morning, and then went to the library and spent a few hours going through a textbook. Yeah yeah, cool story, but I'm pretty happy about it considering how lazy I am normally. In the afternoon I went to an advanced life support workshop, which was an interesting +1 to the list of skills I have that will probably never be of practical use, unless the old lady next door has a heart attack outside my window and someone's left a crash cart on the road nearby. Less likely things have happened.

I've only watched the first episode of Kaiji 2 so far. Haven't felt like picking up the others yet.

  2. I've already picked out my shows for the season and been following their releases ever since. I'm not lazy when it comes to getting the next episode since I can't wait for what happens next.

It's always good to have them.

  4. >LoL < DotA

Yeah, I agree with you. I played DotA since it was created by Eul and switched to TFT then LoL. I chose LoL over HoN because HoN is really just DotA 1.5. LoL is gets more fun when you're level 30 and you can theorycraft with runes/masteries. It will cost you a load of IP to get enough runes to play around though.

    >Nasus and Malphite

Malphite USED to be good for his strong laning power. I wouldn't play him anymore because his Slam and passive shield was nerfed hard. Nasus is okay, but he isn't good either. He's tanky with no real CC and you need a lot of farm for his skill to do damage. I would say Mal is tier 4 and Nasus is tier 3 for ranked solo games.

If you like tanky heroes that can DPS, Renekton, Singed, Amumu, and Shen can fill the role. They're all tier 1 heroes in my book and they all have a little gimmick to make them fun. You'll have to jungle if you play Amumu though.

  5. Haven't watched anything yet, and won't for a while. I guess it could be nice to let the episodes pile up and then have some stuff to marathon at the end of the season.

  6. @Cpt.Awesome

Thanks for the advice. I like the look of Singed and I think I have the IP for him so I might try him out. I'm still too new to have picked up much of the metagame or hero tiers yet.

  7. That feel when you haven't played either.

Swearing off games for this year. Looking at some of the new games coming out makes me regret it a bit, but then I think about how games are really only getting better. (Despite what some people might say.)

    >Diablo 3

Won't come out this year, I think. I'm a huge fan of the original and the second and its expansion. They've claimed so many hours of my life. I have a feeling I'll be disappointed, though.
