I haven't posted anything in almost a week, mainly because I'd been up visiting my parents and their internet connection is flaky enough that even checking emails is an arduous task that can take up to 15 minutes. The highlight of the visit for me tends to be the two hour trip each way. I quite like driving, sure, but the good part is being able to blast my shitty animu/vocaloid/j-pop music for an extended period while isolated from everyone else. This trip I went with a Gumi playlist on my way there and the Panty and Stocking soundtrack on the way home, with some SZS songs after the P&S CD finished.
I decided to
download The Sims Medieval to play while I was away after seeing it on /v/ (I had never even heard of it until a few days ago). I've played all of the Sims games, each for no longer than a day or two. There's something about them, every now and then I really feel like playing them again but I get sick of them incredibly quickly compared to other less
>casual games.
The concept of the Sims Medieval is considerably different from the rest of the series in that it's quest based and is pretty simplified in terms of what you can build: all buildings are prefab, so you're limited to changing the furniture or adding decorations. You get to make a few sims, each with a designated profession, then take turns controlling one or two at a time depending on what the current quest is.
On account of me being thoroughly uncreative, I named my kingdom Gensokyo. You can probably guess the rest. Unfortunately the limited clothing and hair options sorely crippled my ability to faithfully recreate touhous, but I did what I could.

Remi ruling with charisma and frequent executions |

Patchy can't hold her gruel very well |
You get to pick traits for each character too. Remilia is evil, vain and bloodthirsty (it's a terrible pun but I couldn't resist), while Patches is solitary and scholarly with a weak constitution, which led to more sneezing moe than I expected.

Preaching's a tough gig with Eirin heckling you and Patchouli busy levitating her staff in the corner. |

So Sanae resorts to more unscrupulous means of gathering faith. Mystia, of course, remains oblivious. |

It's not exactly night-blindness, but Mystia's song's having some effect at least. |
It's fun enough to waste a few hours with but I doubt I'll be playing it much longer.
I was expecting a CD and a figure in the mail today but nothing's come yet so it looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow for them
(not that that'll stop me continually refreshing the EMS search page just in case). When they
do get here I'll probably take some photos and post about it.
I usually only play The Sims for a couple of hours as well. I'll try to play normally, but I just end up doing stupid shit in it in the end.
ReplyDelete>continually refreshing the EMS search page just in case
I know this feel.
I've never actually played any The Sims games. Never really interested me but this new expansion might make me try it.
ReplyDelete>it's been "departed from inward office of exchange" for hours now
One time I got this in my EMS page and it never updated until my package actually arrived, two days later.
>Preaching's a tough gig with Eirin heckling you and Patchouli busy levitating her staff in the corner.
ReplyDeletelol'd because Patchy is really just....levitating the freaking staff, it just looks so out of place in the scene.
>So Sanae resorts to more unscrupulous means of gathering faith. Mystia, of course, remains oblivious.
As long as she gets to eat after, I don't think she'd mind.
