Lethargy

Another wave of lethargy has swept over me, and I've spent the last few days doing more or less nothing. I think it's passing now, so I'd better take advantage of it while I can.

I-it's not like I WANTED to b-buy you or anything

I said in my last post that I was looking into getting an Asuka figure, possibly Alter's. Within a couple of days, the following things had happened:

  • I looked at a few other possibilities, but preferred Alter's
  • A post in the /fig/ thread on /jp/ alerted me to Amiami having a good sale on her (46% off!)
  • Amiami emailed me to let me know that UBW Rin was going to be another month
By this stage, I was ready to accept that it was fate and just go for it. I had the money saved up for my May order anyway, and it even worked out cheaper (and I've got another whole month to save up the money for Rin). She's coming by SAL so I expect her any time between tomorrow and Christmas.

I've decided to dedicate today to catching up on the anime I'm watching. I'm current with some shows, but I'm quite behind on others - I think Hanasaku Iroha and Denpa Onna are a few episodes ahead of where I've watched to. It's not that I'm not enjoying them or anything, I just have a bad habit of forgetting to do things.

I've also finally started Dragon Age 2, so I'd like to play a bit more of that too. I'm rolling with a red-headed moustachioed mage with a predilection for fire (may or may not have been inspired by Bright Wizards from Warhammer). I might post some screenshots sometime, but probably won't remember. If I still have some time, I'm really wanting to start Muv Luv, since it's been sitting on my hard drive for a week or so now and I still haven't even hit Start.

Scarily, my exams are less than a month away but I'm yet to do any sort of study. This is a fucking bad idea, but I just can't motivate myself to crack open the textbooks unless there's an immediate deadline. I'll probably get into study with about a fortnight to go. I hope. Oh god I'm so screwed.

Steins;Gate has been giving me a bit of trouble lately. I wrote a shitty little program (in >Visual Basic) to automatically rename anime files from the [FanSubGroup]_Some_terrible_show_-_03_(1280x720_h264)_[ASDF123] format that many release groups use on torrent sites to something standardised and more aesthetically pleasing. It's worked quite well, I just rightclick the file, click "Rename (auto)" and it all works well, barring a few bugs with a few shows in their second+ seasons.  However a fatal flaw has been uncovered, and it comes in the form of a semicolon. Although you can use the little buggers quite fine when renaming in Explorer, I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it in a program without it being interpreted as some sort of special character.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful (as long as the suggestion doesn't involve using a decent programming language instead). I don't claim to be very good at this sort of thing, I've just sort of run with the knowledge I got from high school computing classes back in the day.

I do enjoy dicking around with making programs for various little things. It gives me the illusion of being productive, while putting off other things that are actually important, like study.

Anyway, I actually have a few things I want to blog about sometime, as well as some figures incoming, so with a bit of luck I'll be updating a bit more regularly for a while. Until then, well, there might be a few more shitposts coming your way. Look forward to them!

  1. Good choice in figure, I saw her on sale a few days ago thinking it was a very good price.

  2. >Asuka figure

I've had these weird coincidences too. It's like I was supposed to have this figure, no questions asked.

    >rename anime files

I just keep it the way it is. I don't have the motivation to rename EVERY single file. In fact, this has never crossed my mind. I'll probably notice it more often, even though I don't want to.

I actually started opening the notes and books a week before my last finals. It was a good thing that the papers have a long gap between them.

Hmm, I usually rename my files when they have underscores in the place of spaces (I can be very particular sometimes haha)

  4. I saw that AmiAmi had some Alter figures on sale a few days ago. I wanted Nodocchi, but she was temporaraily sold out, so I lurked the page for two days. She never came back into stock and is completely sold out now. I then thought about getting that Asuka instead, but I didn't.

Horrible. Even if I can't stand it I usually just leave my anime like that. But when it comes to music, I have to change it to "01 Song Title" instead of "1_some_band_-_some_album_-_song_title", or something like that.

  5. >temporaraily

Nice spelling there. My OCD wants to correct it.
