Absolutely nothing

I haven't posted anything in a few days, but there really hasn't been much happening. I've been on break most of the week, which of course means I spent my time sitting at my computer watching those girl cartoons and playing those silly games. A pretty good week if you ask me.

Today's unrelated pictures brought to you by Kiri!

Game-wise I resubbed to Warhammer Online and have been spending way too much time gutting High Elves and smashing stunties. I got this game when it came out, which was I think in 2008, but stopped playing only a couple of months after launch since the endgame was pretty much non-existent in terms of population. I came back due to an offer of 14 free days (at this stage I'm not planning on staying any longer than that, but I could be swayed depending on how much fun I have) and was glad to see the amount of servers cut from ~40 to 4. In a game so focussed on PvP, I'm sure you can understand why a decent server population is essential.

I had two characters from 2008: a Witch Elf nearly at max level (40) and a Magus at around level 15. I didn't want to jump back into endgame stuff since I'm sure the good equipment would have changed heaps since I last played, so I tried my Magus out, but they're still terrible. So I rolled a new Witch Elf, and it's been pretty fun. I'm only level 8 so far but I've been doing a lot of scenarios (battlegrounds, I think? Not sure of the WoW equivalents, I never played it) and open-world Realm vs Realm which focuses around capturing and holding objectives such as keeps.

Why not just play WoW if I want an MMO? I don't know really. I just feel that I've missed the boat on that one by too much and it'd be silly to start now, though there's a good chance I'll play Blizzard's next MMO, not that I'm holding my breath for it to come out. Why not Korean grindfests? Although they have the advantage of being cuter, the ones I've seen just don't seem very good. I played Aika Online ages ago and didn't like it much, and haven't really gone looking since. If one was recommended to me then I'd probably try it out though.

On the anime side of things, I've finally started watching all the shows I was interested in this season with the exception of C, but I might just let that one go. I'm watching Ano Hana, Denpa Onna, Hanasaku Iroha, Kaiji S2, TWGOK2, Maria Holic Alive, Nichijou, Steins;Gate and Tiger & Bunny. The bolded ones are the ones I'm enjoying the most so far, although if I was judging them on the catchiness of their OP then Nichijou would be the winner instead. The only one I'm not liking much so far is Maria Holic 2 - it just doesn't seem as funny as the first one. I didn't find the first one hilarious, but it was amusing enough to keep me watching. The only thing that's keeping me watching S2 is Yuu Kobayashi and my stubbornness/OCD when it comes to watching sequels of shows I've already seen.

Too lewd?

I haven't been slacking all week though. I had two lectures yesterday that I decided I'd go to. As I was about halfway to the bus stop (it's a bit over a kilometre from home) it suddenly started pouring with rain, which proceeded to clear up just as I got to the bus shelter. It wasn't so bad though since it was warm enough that I dried off before I got to uni, and to make thing even better, the lectures actually ended up being worthwhile! A rare occasion indeed. I got home just as my housemate's royal wedding party was getting into full swing. I didn't watch it myself, not caring about the monarchy, weddings, or any combination thereof. It did baffle me to see people posting afterwards in various places how they support the royals so much more now when absolutely nothing changed except that they had a stupidly expensive marriage. I'm actually something of a republican myself, but I doubt there's even one person on the internet who wants to hear my indepth views on Australian politics so I'll leave it at that.

I'd like to say I've got some content lined up to post soon but that just isn't the case. The only thing lined up for me this weekend is taking it easy with some vidya. I hope your weekend is at least as enjoyable as mine.

EDIT: thought I'd mention that I'm still not sick. It seems I've evaded the eyes of the NHK, for now at least.

  1. I played Warhammer on a friend's account for a few days and thought it was pretty fun. But I could tell my friends were already getting bored, so I avoided pulling another Conan (I bought it, played for a week, then dropped it. At least $60 down the drain.).

    >WoW

Yeah, if you haven't played before, joining now would be kind of...eh. Vanilla was so much better in terms of leveling, because it actually felt like its own game and like it mattered. Now you'd be grinding through 85 levels of content in a rush because nothing below level cap matters.

    >Blizzard's next MMO

I've enjoyed too many of their games to not play whatever it is. It could be "Land of Magical Ponies and Glitter" and I'll still play it. Heck, with a name like that it'd probably be awesome too.

    >Anime

I'm missing it. It's tempting to download 480p versions and start catching up, but if I keep putting it off until I build a new PC I'll have more drive to earn the money for it. Until then...

    >Royal marriage

Didn't know about it until I saw people making facebook posts.

    >Worthwhile lectures, vidya, not sick

Great to hear that life has been good lately.

    >I hope your weekend is at least as enjoyable as mine.

    Aw shucks, thanks!

  2. A very fine way to spend your break, ol' champ.
    >I just feel that I've missed the boat on that one by too much and it'd be silly to start now

Yeah, I know how you feel. Starting now seems silly, the hype for it has long gone and there's tons of nice stuff you've missed by now. Korean grindfests take up way too much time.

    >Too lewd?

Well from the thumbnail it se-

DAMMIT, KIRI. It's okay, I won't open it.

I've only started Ano Hana, Nichijou, and Deadman Wonderland so far. Like the three pretty well. I'm going to give Kaiji a try later, since the episodes are so slow and suspenseful. It's the kind show I want to finish in one shot.

Nice to know the NHK hasn't gotten to you.

  4. I've never been too much into MMOs since they feel too different to be considered a video game.

    >I'm watching Ano Hana, Denpa Onna, Hanasaku Iroha, Kaiji S2, TWGOK2, Maria Holic Alive, Nichijou, Steins;Gate and Tiger & Bunny.

I was going to say that's a lot of shows but I remember you saying that you drop anything that loses your interest. I can't possibly do that since I have to finish any show I start.

    >Too lewd?

I see what you did there. Hehe.

    >It seems I've evaded the eyes of the NHK, for now at least.

They will strike and it won't be pleasant.

  5. WoW has put a taint on me that causes me to be unsatisfied with any other MMO. I probably won't be playing any MMOs in the near future anyways. I just don't find them as fun as I used to.

I'm more or less liking the same shows as you. I liked the first season of Maria Holic quite a bit, but this season seems a bit lackluster. Maybe I just had too much expectations from it.

    >Too lewd?

    Oh you.

  6. >royal wedding

I didn't even know before my mother mentioned it.

    >people posting afterwards in various places how they support the royals so much more now when absolutely nothing changed except that they had a stupidly expensive marriage.

People did the same over here last year. Also, some stores even sold official royal wedding merchandise.

    >It seems I've evaded the eyes of the NHK

That's good. But be careful, they're everywhere.
